Weavers Way Position on Arizona SB 1062

PHILADELPHIA, February 26, 2014 — Continuing in its four-decade tradition of peace, love, veggies and honoring all people, Weavers Way posted these signs in its Mt. Airy and Chestnut Hill stores today:

Last week, the Arizona legislature passed SB 1062, which would allow business owners, as long as they assert their religious beliefs, to deny service to gay and lesbian customers. Gov. Jan Brewer has until Saturday to decide whether to sign or veto the measure.

Said Weavers Way Manager Glenn Bergman, who asked for the signs to be posted, "Fifty years ago, people got arrested for sitting at lunch counters. This has been settled. I think it's deplorable."
